High winds, great views, beautiful sunrises, remnants from Hurricane Isabel, breakfast by candlelight at Big Meadows (aided by propane), bucks clashing, grazing deer.... You will find all of these and more on Skyline Drive in October.

What you will not find in excess is colorful fall foliage.

Yes, the colors are there. But with a number of frosts and other weather conditions, the leaves are just not as vivid this year.

Still, it is well worth the trip, anytime of year.
